Speaker 0 00:00:00 Smile. Hi there and welcome to today's proper golfing podcast with myself, Joe Cameron.
Speaker 1 00:00:05 I'm Julie Miller.
Speaker 0 00:00:06 Yeah, we are co-creators of proper golfing and the timeless golf swing method. So today we are based in Royal Limited Bar in the uk. So today we are casting our mind back to last week in Tene. 'cause it's raining, like raining, raining and five degrees here. So we thought wherever you are in the world, if it's winter, wherever you are, we are here today to officially lift your golfing spirits.
Speaker 1 00:00:27 Yeah, definitely. It's horrible out there. But guys, it was beautiful last week wasn't it? It's always
Speaker 0 00:00:32 Very sunny in here. Yeah. So we're just gonna do a little bit of a recap really on our golfing trips if you're interested or not. There's lots of learning to be had. I think going back through the feedback sheets, we introduced a new driver confidence section, didn't we? Yeah,
Speaker 1 00:00:47 We did. Yeah.
Speaker 0 00:00:48 So that was really well received. So we're gonna talk a little bit about the, you know, what people learned a little bit about how we choose our venues 'cause that's really important and some information if you wanna come with us next time. Yeah, definitely drive a confidence. Yeah, that was
Speaker 1 00:01:01 A new different, different outlook on, on what we're trying to do. So we often go through, so we do lots of coaching, coaching in the mornings, playing in the afternoon on course coaching as well. But we wanted to add a little bit of spies to it and one of the main issues that we see people coming in here with all the time is I've lost confidence in my driving. Understand. So we went through a driver confidence morning really and we, that's all we focused on. So I like it. I wanted them to go away and think about the process of hitting driver. So the setup allows the backswing to start properly. If your setup's really poor with driving, you're going to struggle the turn away. So I call it the turn away, not the backswing. Yeah. So we turn the club to the top of the backswing. Again, if you get this right, the club's in a great position where you can then start the downswing correctly. The path on the way down that into Outswing path delivers the power and the club face sends the ball in the initial direction. So we really focused on those four elements. Really good setup, really good backswing, really good start to the downswing delivering the club to impact and concentrating on that club face control. Mm. When you get those four in the right spot. Oh my goodness.
Speaker 0 00:02:25 I absolutely, oh I actually love watching them on the range as well. Getting some real,
Speaker 1 00:02:29 There was a lot of joy wasn't there?
Speaker 0 00:02:30 A hundred percent. Yeah. Because golf's important to you like it is to everybody else. Yeah. And, and when you come away to the sunshine, it's warm, you know, you get a lot more freedom in your golf swing. Don't your body's nice and nice and
Speaker 1 00:02:42 Less well you, you're wearing less clothes so you definitely swing freer. It is 23, 24, 25 degrees. So it's not overly hot, but it's definitely warm enough to to loosen the body up the air's a little bit thinner so you get a bit more distance. Yeah. But you're also in an environment where all you're thinking about is golf. Yeah. You haven't gotta go home and do the pots or, or clean the car, you know, you know, clean the house, the dog or anything. Yeah. Clean the car. So you're just immersed in, in golf you're around people who, who love to play. Always like-minded people come on our trips, aren't they?
Speaker 0 00:03:14 That that does amaze me. I mean we, we absolutely love doing these experiences and you know, we've done put a lot of work in over the years. We've been doing them for nearly a decade, haven't we? Yeah. But they are absolutely our joyful place and when people say to us it's not just about the golf coaching experience, it's everything else that makes me really happy as well because you are expert at junior's expertise on the golf coaching. But I just love hosting people. That's my thing, isn't it? So,
Speaker 1 00:03:39 And and for those people, you know, I'm gonna blow, I'm gonna blow you on trumpeter Joe, but Joe puts in a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes. Yeah. These trips wouldn't happen if it was left to me to organize them and rubbish it. Organize these guys. I can talk about golf. Yeah. I love coaching golf. But without your expertise in, in getting everybody there at the saint at the right time. Getting picked up from the airports. Yeah. The hotels, making sure we're all looked after. All the things that I need on a driving range to, to get a great, I wouldn't have organized that. You sort all that out Joe. So you are kind of the unsung hero in all this, but I would say you are probably responsible for 70% of these trips. Oh well thank you. I do the other 30%. Thank you. So I've got the easy job. You've got the hard job. I mean
Speaker 0 00:04:24 I, like I say I love it. It comes naturally to me. One of our delegates guest, it's his third trip, he came all the way from America to Brilliant to tene. And the best part for me is making sure that he's collected at the airport. That's my favorite bit. You know,
Speaker 1 00:04:39 It's not just collective, it's getting picked up in the morning. Oh yeah. When he is leaving as well. Yeah,
Speaker 0 00:04:43 A hundred percent. Really important. So on some of the packages we literally, you know, we are literally there right from the moment that you leave your home until you get back again, I wanna make sure that you are correctly delivered and correctly dropped off again. But we need to give a shout out to the venue as well. Buena Vista, where we went in Tene, Northern Tene. So that was the fourth time we've been, the trips look like sadly for you that they are could be fully booked for next January and we're probably gonna do a second one because the guys from last week wanna come back and the people from you know, put the calendar out. They wanna come, but we shout out to the venue. We used that four times, but by far they've nailed it this week. Yeah, I was asking them a lot behind the scenes. What have they done, what have they changed? It's so difficult to put a finger on it. But the food was fantastic. The weather was great. The hotel, the brilliant and the people in the golf, you know, were sometimes they behind the scenes, it doesn't always go according to bland, but our job is to make it look like it and it looked like it did. And the golf pit, honestly
Speaker 1 00:05:44 The golf course savvy design golf course right on the coast overlooking the sea, just breathtaking. Makes you feel like you just wanna play golf.
Speaker 0 00:05:54 Yeah, I know. I mean I, I was like so wanting to play. I didn't even get to play did I? I was like okay let me just, you know, hit some, lemme hit some ball. Yeah. I didn't get to play because yeah, my job is to make sure that everybody's looked after and Yeah. You know, make sure they get the right time for dinner. The menus are all right and breakfast is okay. So yeah, we just wanted to share a few, well firstly you'd like to say, wanted to give a shout to Buena Vista 'cause they were amazing. Yeah. Great. So we are gonna be back there next January twice. We think those places might be full but we are changing the format as well or adding to the formats. So we are in July in Portugal and we're gonna do a golf and wellness retreat 'cause a lot of our people want more playing.
Speaker 0 00:06:32 So we're gonna play some different courses. Yep. We're gonna have a bit of yoga, Pilates, a wellness and opening them out to yourself as a golfer and non golfing partners if you want to. So you don't have to, but I'm so excited. So is Portugal, July? Oh Tene if I remember is in October. Yep. So we're going back there. We've only got a couple of places available there and then Dominican Republic next year. So they are all on the website under the calendar tab. Yep. But so what was your overriding memory? So just to remind you, we do coaching in the morning, playing in the afternoon. Well it's guided course management really in the afternoon, isn't it? Yeah. But what I also like about our trips is that if you wanna break at nine holes you can. So no, there's no pressure. Absolutely. You just, you're so relaxing. So
Speaker 1 00:07:13 We, we, we can't, we go to a, a lovely grass driving range, you know, I say grass 'cause that's important. People like hitting off grass. Yeah. Not off mats. So we, we do that, you know, we, we go through the methodology of the timeless golf swing. You know, we look at setups and swings and using that with all different clubs. Then we have a bespoke session on, on one of the days where we just go and work on short game. Yeah. That and we spent quite a bit of time in the sand. So a lot of people struggle in bunkers and I just went through the whole principle of how to get out bunkers easily and reliably. I explained a little bit about the ripple effect, which love, which people don't really understand, but if you know how to move the sand correctly, you can get out of bunkers, no problem whatsoever.
Speaker 1 00:07:59 So it was really important that we do a little bit of in depth understanding of that. We also did some fun chipping competitions. Yeah, love that. And we've got, so Derek won became the 10 roof chipping champion of 2026. Yeah. And we also had a pudding champion in 2026 as well, which happened Yeah. On the first day, which was Steven. Yeah, great. We, we call it, it's a knockout. So there's eight people and it gradually goes down to two and they have to knock in the fun bit. Joe was, when he actually hold the winning put it was a alop, really loppy green. It went about six inches past the hole. He thought he'd missed it and then it rolled back into, oh that's a wood. So all all a nice bit of fun. Yeah. And on the last day, when it all comes together, we have two teams and we do a Texas scramble.
Speaker 1 00:08:49 What's special about it Joe, is we take away a lot of the rules. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Rules can be a bit of a, an issue for, for them. Yeah. So we, you don't have to have a minimum amount of shots. We do 10% of the combined handicaps. They're always close. Yeah. The win score, they shot three under par gross behind them. They shot one under par gross. I think there was two shots difference between the two teams. But it's fun, it's immersive, it's encouraging each other. It's really gives you an opportunity to, to see it doesn't matter what standard you are. We we have totally mixed ability. Yeah. Completely. But it all comes together, doesn't it?
Speaker 0 00:09:25 I love it. I love that last day. I absolutely love it. It's great fun. What, what is remarkable is how the groups just all gel together. I love, they love that
Speaker 1 00:09:33 Friendships,
Speaker 0 00:09:33 Social, you know, the social dinners and stuff like that in the, so the next ones they've got, we, you know, we've done this, done this a lot and taken a lot of input from people as well. So the next ones we're gonna add in some one-to-one sessions. Yep. You know, if you're traveling far you might want take a a one-to-one with Julian and yeah. So I'm just, I'm really, really, really happy with how they, how they're all coming together now. Like I say, we've got a lot of experience at doing these things, but yeah, I
Speaker 1 00:10:01 Dunno how many we've done now. How many we done.
Speaker 0 00:10:03 I dunno. I was gonna, I tried to add them up on the plane on the way back. I dunno. I dunno it's lot them all lot but, but as you can see we love doing the people give us great feedback. Loads of people have come back multiple times aren't they? Yeah, they have. Yeah. I think what people know they're getting is that, you know, they get certainty. You get everything organized. So it's basically the complete peace of mind I think is what, it's
Speaker 1 00:10:26 The whole package isn't it? People
Speaker 0 00:10:27 Keep coming back for Yeah. So if you are interested in joining us, there is that link on the website at the top. It's the calendar of dates. We have got Portugal, we've got Tene, we've got Dominican Republic and yeah, we hope to see you there in October and Tene. So we hope to see you there.
Speaker 1 00:10:42 I forgot to go back again. I know it's tough
Speaker 0 00:10:44 Laughing. It's tough. But anyway, hope that we bought a little bit of sunshine into your day to day is absolutely raining here in the
Speaker 1 00:10:50 Uk. Yeah it does. The sun is up there somewhere.
